The reason a customer could apply the same discount coupon across multiple orders depends on how the discount was used in combination with our app’s features. Here's how it works:
- If a customer applies both the Shopify discount code and a discount from our app, then the Shopify discount usage condition is not validated. As a result, the customer can use the same coupon code in multiple orders.
- If a customer applies only the Shopify discount code (without any discount from our app), then the Shopify discount usage limit will be enforced. This means the coupon can only be used as per the conditions set in Shopify.
Example:
Let’s say a customer places 5 orders using the same Shopify coupon code:
- In 4 of those orders, the customer uses both our app’s discount + the Shopify coupon code – this bypasses Shopify’s usage limit.
- In 1 of those orders, the customer uses only the Shopify coupon code – this gets counted toward the Shopify usage limit.
Now, if the customer tries to place:
- Another order with our app discount + the Shopify coupon → it will work.
- Another order with only the Shopify coupon code (without our app discount) → it will not work if the usage limit has already been reached in previous non-app-discount orders.
Note: This behavior is not affected by the order type — whether it's a regular order, subscription, etc.
